Born in Blood

Fifteen-year-old Millie, a gentle Chicago girl, is traded as a peace offering between two rival mafia clans. Her father barters her hand in marriage to Gio Merante, the ruthless heir of New York’s most feared criminal syndicate—a cold killer who took his first life at eleven, feared by every soul in the underworld. From the moment he lays eyes on her, Gio marks Millie as his exclusive possession, trapping her in a cage of endless dread. Her parents turn a blind eye to her terror; only her fiery elder sister Harper and young brother stand by her side, while a loyal staff slips her a hidden blade for self-defense. At their engagement banquet, a man lewdly hits on Millie, and Gio chops off his finger without hesitation, issuing a brutal warning: anyone who touches what belongs to him will pay with their life. For three long years before their wedding, Gio stays in New York yet showers her with lavish gifts and round-the-clock surveillance, driving away every man who dares approach her, remaining utterly celibate while waiting for her eighteenth birthday. On the eve of their marriage, Gio’s obsessive ex Alyssa teams up with a traitor to torment Millie, using the old Sicilian blood-sheet tradition to scare her into calling off the wedding. On their wedding night, to spare Millie humiliation, Gio slashes his own arm to fake the required bloodstain, swearing he will never force her. After tying the knot, Millie moves into Gio’s luxurious Manhattan penthouse, resenting his suffocating control. But a string of deadly threats chips away at her fear: vicious Bratva ambushes leave Gio gravely wounded, an assassin breaks into their home at midnight, and the once timid Millie grabs a gun to shield him. She finally sees the trauma hidden beneath his brutal exterior—he lost his mother as a child, survived relentless manhunts alongside his younger brother, and learned violence was the only way to protect those he loved. As they fight off the Bratva cartel and unravel the conspiracy woven by Alyssa and her corrupt politician father, fragile love blooms between them. However, Alyssa drugs Gio and stages a cheating trap to shatter Millie’s trust completely. Gio abandons his pride, kneels to beg for her forgiveness, and presents full surveillance footage to prove his innocence, leaving all their enemies at Millie’s mercy. What began as a cold mafia contract evolves into an all-consuming redemptive love story. The unhinged, bloodstained don reserves all his softness solely for her, and the sheltered young girl breaks free from her predestined fate. Amid endless violence and darkness, they find their only salvation in each other.
